To significantly improve test efficiency when evaluating multiple driving scenarios, simultaneously replicating the behaviour and actions when faced with obstacles in a realistic and consistent manner.

Project Objective

Validating Automated Driving Systems in a virtual environment, and the simulation of a large number of complex driving situations to enable developers and regulators to have real confidence in their reliability and safety when deployed on the roads

Aimsun Solution

The assembly of the PoC framework within the project allowed the fusion of a number of novel techniques as regards scenario definition and targeted searching as well and smart actors. Aimsun acted in an advisory role drawing on its expertise in both the commercial software and traffic industry.

Run these repeated trials in a virtual environment delivers resulits in a fraction of the time with a fraction of the cost of real-world testing.  This means CAVs can be validated and verified to a greater degree before they reach the road.
