Transport Modeler for Technical Support

Barcelona

Description

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, Software Development Department of Group Company, the Technical Support Engineer is responsible for providing end users with high-quality technical support for the Aimsun Next software program. The main mission is to investigate, diagnose, troubleshoot and identify solutions for customer issues.

Responsibilities

  • Receive client requests for technical support or reports of issues in Aimsun Next.
    Gather customer information and determine the issue.
  • Reproduce the issue and, when possible, create a smaller example that reproduces the issue by isolating the problem from other operations.
  • Answer technical questions by looking in the Users’ Manual and the internal knowledge database.
  • Follow standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate internal teams.
  • Ensure proper recording and closure of all issues, tracking tickets until successfully resolved and informing users of their resolution.
  • Document knowledge in the internal knowledge database and identify gaps or missing features in the existing documentation with the aim of helping users and therefore reducing support questions.
  • When facing Python programming errors, discern user mistakes from Aimsun Next issues.
  • Write simple Python scripts when requested by the users.
  • Acquire Aimsun Next knowledge and gradually move on to more complex support tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in professional written and spoken English

Highly Desired Skills

  • Prior experience working on a technical support desk or using Aimsun Next
  • Python programming skills
  • Knowledge of Aimsun Next or a GIS application
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
  • Ability to relocate to Barcelona and willingness to learn Spanish

Scientific Software Developer

Location

Barcelona

Description

Develop and implement traffic simulation models, reporting to the Executive Director, Research and Development. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Engineering (Transportation), OR, Mathematics or CS and significant prior experience (academic or commercial) working on microscopic or agent-based traffic simulation models.

The position requires strong C++ and a solid foundation in traffic flow theory. Fluency in written and spoken English is expected.

The ability to relocate to Barcelona and willingness to learn Spanish are highly valued though we are open to exceptional US-based candidates.

Essential Skills

  • Project experience in developing and implementing simulation software, and ideally have experience in traffic simulation models
  • Prior experience (academic or commercial) working on traffic signal optimization, transport planning or traffic simulation would be highly desirable
  • Strong coding skills in C++
  • Expertise in developing simulation scientific software
  • Demonstrated foundation in traffic flow theory
  • Fluency in professional written and spoken English
  • Ability to relocate to Barcelona and willingness to learn Spanish

Highly Desired

  • PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering (Transportation) would be highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • EU work visa, if necessary

C++ Software Developer

Description

Your job will be to work on the user interface of the Aimsun traffic simulation application, used by traffic engineers in over 70 countries.
