New update for Andorra's National Mobility Model

Back in 2019, Andorra Research + Innovation launched the National Mobility Model to improve Andorra’s digital presence and mobility strategies. Created using Aimsun Next transport simulation software, the model is flexible enough for both large-scale strategic modelling and microscopic analysis of complex areas.
The model also has the advantage of using geolocated mobile phone data from Andorra Telecom, which provides unusually complete and high-quality data for decision-making due to owning a 100% market share in Andorra telecoms.
Fast forward to 2025, and we are thrilled to announce the latest update to the National Mobility Model! This update confirms the model’s reliability and effectiveness in helping make decisions and optimise public resources.
The latest update is validated with new travel data across the whole of Andorra, ensuring accurate demand adjustment and calibration.
The video below shows a zoom in from the full network model down to to a single road sensor/detector; we then see the real data sets for 2021 and the 2024 update alongside the simulation.
