Merging static & dynamic transport modelling in SE Queensland

With preparations underway for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Queensland Government is taking a decisive and integrated approach to coordinating growth and planning initiatives alongside transportation network development.
Under an initiative by iMOVE Australia, a tactical transportation model of the whole of South-East Queensland will merge previously disconnected static and dynamic modelling methods under a single integrated multi-modality mobility plan.
Aimsun will work with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to assess the transport challenges of multi-centre regions – Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, and Logan – via a hybrid regional macro-mesoscopic tactical and operations transport model.
The model will serve as a sandbox for testing various operational scenarios under forecast demand/growth scenarios in order to optimise transportation network operations.
