Breakout 3, Future Mobility, 127: Next generation environmental traffic management presented by Dave Keenan.

This presentation looks at results from the award-winning NEVFMA project, the UK’s first fully operational, county-wide predictive model for both the local and strategic road network in Oxfordshire.

NEVFMA stands for the ‘Network Emissions and Vehicle Flow Management Adjustment’ and the project is led by Aimsun, working with EarthSense, Siemens Mobility and Oxfordshire County Council for Highways England.

Breakout 11, Transport Pricing, Modelling & Economics, 90: Decision Support System for network management: A pilot project for Victoria Road corridor in Sydney presented by Timothy Lim.

The Victoria Road corridor from James Ruse Drive to CBD is one of the busiest commuter corridors in Sydney. The operators managing this corridor need to make quick and sensible decisions to deliver journey time reliability and to avoid exponential delays during non-recurrent events. Simultaneous recurrent and non-recurrent events create compound impacts on multimodal journeys through this network.

This study proposes a Decision Support System (DSS) to assist the network operators. The DSS solution offers a unique combination of artificial intelligence (AI) from Data61 with simulation and prediction technology from Aimsun

Breakout 17, Data, Transport & Information, 167: Real-Time Simulation-based Predictive Decision Support System  presented by Dave Keenan & Timothy Lim.

Aimsun has been engaged by Tyco to provide the technical capability for the installation of Aimsun Live, a decision support system for real-time simulation-based predictive traffic management,  as part of a tailored technology solution for the M4 Managed Motorway System. The project includes a 35-kilometre upgrade along the M4 Motorway from Blue Mountain in the West to Rosehill area in the East, travelling past Parramatta city, the second CBD as defined under the draft Greater Sydney Region Plan.

The system provides a 24/7 platform that helps the operator to visualise and monitor the network. With the support of Aimsun Live, it provides the operator the tool to access potential alternative traffic management plans in response to the changing traffic condition, and allows advance notice of potential issues in the network
