Every four years or so the City of Paris macroscopic model requires recalibration with new data. This includes traffic counts and journey times and also new demand, which comes from another four-step travel demand model of the Île-de-France area.
The calibration of the macroscopic model of Paris is part of the area-wide modelling project of the entire Paris metropolitan area that was commissioned in 2010 by the Mairie de Paris (City of Paris), specifically, the Section Etudes et Exploitation (Assessment and Operations Section) within the Département de la Voirie et des Déplacement (Department of Roads and Transport), which oversees all the macroscopic and microscopic traffic assessment studies for any project that involves traffic changes in the Paris area.
TSS has just completed the calibration for the AM and PM peak periods. This process began in 2010 and included the following tasks:
TSS has also developed a Project Management Module for the City of Paris that offers the option to form links between layers where there are changes in geometry, capacity etc.
