Collaboration
Aimsun Next 26, released on 3rd December 2025, introduces a new way to collaborate on transport modelling projects: from geo-located discussions to cloud‑shared diagnostics and role‑based project control, we’ve introduced new features to help teams model, review and iterate together, all within the Aimsun Next environment.

We’d like to introduce you to myAimsun Projects. Creating a project in myAimsun, our user portal, gives you access to additional features that improve model coding and model audits, including a revamped Check & Fix module. In addition to this, centralised storage space can be purchased to share the model with other parties.

Creating a project in myAimsun

myAimsun Projects

To create a project in myAimsun, go to https://my.aimsun.com/ and log in using your usual method. To add a new project, you will need to be an Admin.
myAimsun is the central hub for moving your licenses between users, discussing how to use Aimsun Next with other users on the Forum, accessing documentation and now, managing your projects.

Once you’ve created your project in myAimsun, you can easily add people to your project and set their permissions to either a Reader, Editor or Admin.

Adding Geo Comments to a project

Before you can add Geo Comments, you must link your model file (.ang) to the project. To do this, go to Project > Properties. At the top choose the project. All the projects you have access to will be available in the dropdown menu.

To add a Geo Comment, choose the dropper icon on the left and click where you want the comment. Double-click to open the Geo Comment window, then add your comments. The username is automatically set using your license information.

Geo Comments can be classified through custom colour choices and putting them in different layers.

To find current Geo Comments, use Table View.

How to automatically check for errors in the model

For the latest release of Aimsun Next, we have revamped the Check and Fix module. This module checks the model for common errors that are applicable for the type of experiment chosen. It uses the information from the scenario to ensure that all inputs are valid and expected. It may do some minor fixes for public transport routes, however most fixes should be done manually to ensure accuracy.

In previous versions, Check and Fix could be difficult to use in large models due to the large number of warnings produced for minor problems or intentional model coding. In the new version, Check and Fix allows you to mark warnings as discarded, add comments and verify that your previous warnings are now fixed. The comments and previous instances of check and fix are stored in the cloud storage given by myAimsun. This allows for fast real-time communication across different users. The connection to the server is updated each time you open a Geo Comment or a Check and Fix window, therefore one user can be editing the model while another user can comment on it.

To run check and fix, right click on your experiment and select Check and Fix Experiment. A window will pop up showing all the suggested warnings and errors. If you click a row, it will take you to the location of the warning.

You can add comments to warnings and errors by selecting the row then commenting at the bottom. This allows you to discuss warnings with other users.

There may be times when the warnings given are acceptable to you. You can now mark these warnings as discarded. To do this select the row and tick the box, Mark as Discarded. To see all the discarded warnings, click Show Discarded. Then you can sort the table by discarded warnings. It can be useful to add comments to the discarded warnings to tell other users why they are discarded.

New warnings are emboldened each time the check and fix module is run. You can also sort the warnings by the date that they were generated

If you want to find out what checks are available or what different warnings mean, you can find this information in the documentation by pressing help in the bottom left of the window.

What to watch out for

As the comments are not saved with the model, care must be taken on version control. All comments for a project are displayed when opening a model associated to the project, and therefore if opening an older version, it may be the case that you see comments relating to a newer version of the model. It is therefore recommended that users regularly delete comments when they are no longer relevant and ensure that they are commenting on the latest version of the model.
