RIPAS integrates Aimsun and SPEKTR, TEC Magazine, April 2011
This article in the April issue of Traffic Engineering and Control (TEC) magazine looks at how ITS developer and manufacturer, RIPAS, has developed a new traffic management tool in answer to the growing demand for network development in Russia.
The PIC is a Program Interface Controller, a kind of visionary tool that links the Aimsun microsimulator with the SPEKTR road traffic controller and the ITS SPEKTR (the control centre).
As Pavel Karasin, International Business Development Director at RIPAS, explains, PIC is an internal development at RIPAS and is currently not externally marketed. It is used principally as a training tool in universities to test and adapt models and also for promotional purposes, to show what the SPEKTR controllers and Aimsun are capable of.
