International transportation technology company, Aimsun, today announces Alex Torday as its new CEO.
The company’s previous CEO, Alex Gerodimos, is stepping down to take a leadership role with Simulytic, which operates in risk intelligence for autonomous vehicles.
Alex Torday is a veteran member of the Aimsun team and has been with the company since 2005. Before becoming CEO, Alex led Aimsun strategic operations, and prior to that, he was head of global professional services for 15 years, successfully launching and developing Aimsun business activities across Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific region.
The appointment of Alex Torday to the position of CEO is strongly supported by the executive teams at Aimsun and its parent company, Yunex Traffic Group (formerly the ITS division of Siemens Mobility, who acquired Aimsun in 2018). “We unanimously agree that Alex Torday’s deep knowledge of Aimsun solutions and services along with his blend of technical and commercial expertise is a unique match for the role”, says Markus Schlitt, CEO of Yunex Traffic.
“I want to emphasize that this is a friendly move,” says outgoing CEO, Gerodimos. “I’m moving to Simulytic, which is a Siemens venture and a significant Aimsun customer, so I will continue to work closely with Aimsun’s professional services and product management teams. It is my hope that this move will serve to strengthen the partnership between the organizations and our collective presence in the autonomous vehicle space.”
“We all offer our sincere thanks to Alex Gerodimos,” says Alex Torday. “He’s made countless invaluable contributions in his 14 years with Aimsun, and we wish him all the best. I’m looking forward to continuing his legacy, leading Aimsun into 2022 and implementing our strategic vision for future mobility. Ultimately, we are all working towards the same goal: helping cities move towards ever smarter, more sustainable transportation.”
