Launch: Aimsun Next 20

Major new features in the latest version will include:

  • Mixed traffic: 2D micro car-following for bicycles and motorbikes
  • Pedestrian simulator: the embedded pedestrian simulator is a fully integrated plug-in for Aimsun Next microscopic simulation
  • Hybrid macro-meso: now you can analyse planning aspects and operational details in the same model

We will publish a complete guide to the new features in Aimsun Next 20 when we launch the Release Candidate in spring 2020.

Do you need powerful, agile solutions for managing our highways and city networks? Aimsun Live is the perfect engine for smart traffic management – it’s reactive, adaptable and proactive, so authorities can predict traffic problems ahead of time and avoid congestion before it happens.

Aimsun Ride

Are you modeling Mobility as a Service or Demand Responsive Transport (DRT)? Do you need a Taxi Fleet Predictive Analysis or Fleet Distribution? Aimsun Ride enables simulation and testing of fleet dispatcher algorithms, fleet scenarios, demand response analysis, visualisation, and traffic congestion impact on DRT services.

H2020 SAFE-UP project

Newly awarded EU project on proactive safety systems and tools for a constantly upgrading road environment. Project starts June 2020. Baseline models will be built in Aimsun Next, including integration of the autonomous vehicles and sensor models developed by partners, such as Idiada, TU Delft, TNO.

The model will be integrated in the ADAS platform built by all partners (AUDI, Toyota), for testing passive and active safety.

Integrated Multimodal Airport Operations

Aimsun is a partner on a newly awarded EU project called IMHOTEP, starting June 2020. The aim is to develop integrated, multimodal airport operations for Palma de Mallorca and London City Airport. Aimsun will provide decision support tools that allow information sharing, common situational awareness and real-time collaborative decision-making between airports and ground transport stakeholders.

Mobility Operating System: how cities can regain control over their transportation and mobility.

The mobility ecosystem has changed significantly within the last years and cities lost the control over the mobility and transportation systems due to new mobility players in the market. There are currently no tools, which supports cities to actively manage the demand of the infrastructure, travel behaviour and the throughput in a way that strategic KPIs like air quality, traffic flow or safety are achieved. Today, cities even do not know on a big scale, if the already defined rules (e.g. areas with dedicated speed limits) are respected. Based on our global experience of traffic and overall transportation, Siemens Mobility has developed a new and state-of-the-art software platform, the Mobility Operating System, which provides a holistic overview and enables cities and authorities to set the frame conditions how the public authority and also private companies can offer, in a coordinated manner, mobility services and applications.
