A huge ‘thank-you’ to everyone who came to the second annual Australia Aimsun Users’ Meeting and for making it such a success! Forty participants gathered in the Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour hotel on 30th September, and the next day many remained to attend the intensive Advanced Aimsun 8 training course at Saxons Training Centre.
The Users’ Meeting was divided into various sessions: in the morning session, Alex Torday, Managing Director of TSS Pty and Jordi Casas, TSS’s R&D Director, presented the new features available in Aimsun 8. Alex also discussed future trends and developments with the aid of Michiel Bliemer (UniSYD), Travis Waller (UNSW), Marc Miska (QUT) and Andersen Hui (GHD).
The afternoon session was dedicated to presentations from Aimsun users, ranging from mesoscopic models of Sydney CBD Light Rail or Adelaide or Western Sydney employment area to modelling checkpoint and freight operations at Changi Airport and other Aimsun projects overseas.
Alex said the meeting was a great success: “We are very happy indeed at the Sydney office to have such a well attended Users’ Meeting in only our second year here. There was an impressively high level of expertise with users from government agencies, private consultancies and academic institutes equally keen to exchange ideas and share their experiences.”
