AIMSUN NG 5.1 has left the building!

We are pleased to announce the release of the latest version of TSS’s powerful transport software environment, AIMSUN NG 5.1.

We’re excited about the latest release of AIMSUN, our best yet. Here we present more reasons why AIMSUN is the best environment for your transport solutions.

What’s New in AIMSUN Micro 5.1

Improved AIMSUN models

The improved Look Ahead model for lane selection means that vehicles are now capable of looking more than two turns ahead for lane selection behaviour, taking into account section defined look ahead distances. This feature was increasingly being requested by our users to improve modelling in urban settings, in situations such as roundabouts, and model travellers’ knowledge of the road layout ahead. A similar improvement to the Give Way model has been made, where the section defined visibility distance may now extend into the previous section, allowing vehicles approaching a Give Way to apply the gap acceptance models earlier in more junction geometries, improving vehicle flow where appropriate. Increasingly modelling problems are concerned with special situations, therefore the vehicle generation model has been improved with more Arrival Distribution options, such as applying to each centroid or section one specific distribution model, allowing simulation of even more traffic conditions relevant to today’s traffic engineering problems.

Improved Animation

With AIMSUN Micro, you can now smooth your simulation’s visual outputs for better presentation to your clients. Our new feature displaying flashing indicators and brake lights is not just aesthetic, but helpful in understanding observed vehicle behaviour.

Dynamic Network Checker

This new feature is designed to build on the static analysis available in previous versions of AIMSUN Micro. Use Stationary Vehicle Notification to detect stopped vehicles, pause your simulation, log the problem and remove as required. This combined with the ability to count lost vehicles in nodes and display this within the animation allows easier and faster discovery of errors due to wrongly defined physical network parameters, control plans, etc. that static analysis alone would not reveal.

What’s New in AIMSUN Planner 1.1

Use Multi-User traffic assignment to apply separate vehicle types to the network iteratively so that assignments for the demand of every vehicle type more accurately take into account distribution of other vehicles types on the network. Building on matrix adjustment from detector counts and section flows, use the new matrix adjustment from turning counts to adjust demand matrices taking advantage of data obtained from UTC systems. AIMSUN Planner 1.1 also provides improved computational performance.

What’s New in the AIMSUN NG 5.1 environment

The AIMSUN NG environment has also received a range of features to improve its effectiveness. Take advantage of the AIMSUN Viewer to share your simulations and solutions with your stakeholders, improving communication on your projects. Numerous improvements have been made to the editing experience, including updated object editor dialogs, grouping, keyboard shortcuts and dynamic labels on any object. AIMSUN now support for Dual Core CPUs with multiple threads giving you even faster results.
